We are preparing the front wings for primer and grinding and preparing all the alloy welds. This job is tedious but done right it changes the look of the wings considerably. Once you start putting primer on the wings you can start to see all the hard work come through as nice smooth edges and joints, this work also allows for the minimum of filler work.
Working back on the Morgan this week which I am enjoying, stripping the Gemmer steering box for inspection. The internals for the steering box all looked really good apart from the bronze bush at the bottom which is very worn. Having spoken to Terry Foxen at G.E.E. who can supply parts for these boxs, he advised that they always wear. He has also supplied me with the seals, but the bearings I can source locally as these Gemmer steering box’s were manufactured in France anyway.
